Writing prompt: Lost
Write about a time you were lost. Did someone find you or did you find your own way home again?
Write on, right now.

Once upon a time there was a girl who wanted to write. And that would be me. I've moved my journal about my writing life over to LiveJournal http://susanwrites.livejournal.com This blog will be filled with writing prompts and exercises so we can all write on right now! Please feel free to share your favorites.
Write about a time you were lost. Did someone find you or did you find your own way home again?
What are you afraid of? We all have lots of fears but somewhere deep inside is a fear that you don't often (if ever) share with someone else. Give that fear to your character and write about it without ever telling the reader what that fear is.
What was your comfort food as a child? Mine was creamy Jiff peanut butter on soft, white Wonder bread and slices of Del Monte sweet pickles. It still is. One bite and it takes me back to being 10 years old again.
List poems are great warm-ups to an actual writing session. This can be as easy or as difficult as you want to make it. Make a list of all the things you CAN'T remember.
I can't remember . . .
Write on right now!

What did your mother or grandmother always have in their purse? Just list the items you remember. How many of the same items do you carry with you at all times? What's different and why?
This excercise is best done with a tape that you can pause and rewind. You can tape a television show, a commerical or put in a movie. Turn the sound to OFF.
Pick a color - green, blue, red, brown, whatever pops into your mind right now. Go around your room, your house, inside and outside and write down just one word descriptions of what you see that is JUST that color. If you're really ambitious you can try to record your color finds for an entire day. Later, when you are done collecting, reread what you have found then write.
Pick one of these three pictures. Imagine that you carry this item with you in your pocket at all times. Why? Are you an adult or a child? Did you find it? Did someone give it to you? Do you let people know that you carry it with you or do keep it a secret?
Write on right now. Susan
